Waltham is considered one of the most desirable American made watches they bring vary high prices at auction.
the cop. was started in the mid 1850 making very accurate time keeping. a Chronometer differs from a chronograph in that it has specially adapted vibration dampers that compensate for external conditions such as the movements a time piece might have to deal with on a train or a ship at sea. all chronographs are also chronometers but not all Chronometers Cronographic in other words Chronographs use a an entirely different way of dealing with this external movement problem this particular timepiece was made in the 1868 under the Waltham Watch cop logo over the years Waltham experienced a series of financial setback causing it to close down then be bout and reopened under various names part of the cop still exsist today in the form of the waltham technical instrument co they make high precision timepieces for the aeronautical industry
