Mixed Medea Patel and Prisma Colored Pencil
18"x 24"

this is my all time most fun work its a depiction of the last high speed passenger train to run in the United stats running from the capital of California Sacramento to Sanfrancisco 4 times a day at a top speed of 129 MPH it used 2000 gal of water and and 2 tons of coal per mil it was a behemoth there are 5 still in existents the best of which can be seen at the railroad park in Bernardino California
the photo for this was used out of the National archives Washington Dc and is in the public domain as it was taken in 1900 and belongs to all US citizens
the original was black and white i took the color scheme from historical records on this train there where 4 choices
the manufacturer was Baldwin Locomotive Co which later became the Baldwin lock and key co which is still in existents today
and I'm happy to say makes some of the highest quality door and lock hardware in the world
i did this because Trains are so important to the expansion and transportation history of the US we could not have settled the western Territory's with out the railroads and it is for this reason that i chose this work so even Theo it may aspire to be just a pretty picture of a train its much more then that coupled with the fact that the Saint Louse and Sanfrancisco R&R company was one of the primary RR that lade the tracks threw the Continental divide making the only passaged to the west passable over 1000 men died in the blasting and digging of that stretch of tack so its also in honer of there lives that i did this important recreation of this particular train
judge it for your self as you will

This old train remind me the crazy American adventure...
Beautiful pastel drawing Paul, I like the perspective and colors of this old steam locomotive, even
if I prefer the black locomotives with tthe storm, wet under the rain :)
